A Tentelometer is a device that allows audio service engineers to read the tension the of the recording tape on your analogue recorder. We have 3 available, all 2" versions that can also be used on 1" machines.
Having the correct tape tension is important, if the tension is too low the tape may not make a good contact with the tape heads resulting in a bad recording on the other hand if the tension is too high it will cause the heads to wear out quicker, extreme tension could cause the machine to run slow.
Adjustments such as tension should only be carried out by a competent engineer.
This YouTube video shows a Tentelometer in use, unfortunately it does not show you how to adjust the tape tension on your machine
