dbx 160X

The dbx 160X is a single channel audio compressor, it was superseded by the 160 which was half rack width and had a VU meter in place of the led meters which are found on the 160X.

The 160X is 1U high and 19" wide with rack ears, the performance is very similar to the 160, the main difference is price, the 160X is £200 whereas the 160 costs about 4 times as much.

I had a pair of 160's in the 1970s and they were my favourite mid priced compressor. The controls were very similar, Threshold, Compressor Ratio and Output Gain. There are also By Pass, Slave and Over Easy switches. The units can be linked for stereo use.
