NEUMANN U87 - 1969 VINTAGE

VINTAGE 1969 NEUMANN U87 Microphones with Neumann clips.

We have 2 of these Vintage microphones available, they will be 55 years old this year. They are in full working order and in very nice condition. They both have spent the past few years in the studio of Alan Parker, session guitarist, composer, ex Blue Mink, and many more - he played the Sitar on the Beatles recording of Norwegian Wood, he also wrote the music for Jaws 3 etc etc. The reason I mention all this is to demonstrate that Alan does not often record vocalists which is one reason why his microphones are in such good condition.

One of these U87's was from AIR Studios, serial number 11268 and is the one pictured here, it has a light inscription of the AIR Studios Logo - the other one, serial number 13187 is in equally good condition but without the logo - take your pick.

Like the current Ai model they are large capsule microphones with switchable patterns, Omni, Cardioid and Figure of 8 plus switchable High Pass filter and a -10db pad, they can be powered by 48 volt phantom powering - these vintage models can also be powered by battery as can be seen in the pictures, there is also a small window at the back of the vintage microphone so you can view a small meter which shows the presence of phantom power or when there are batteries installed.

The Neumann U87 are the most popular large capsule microphone available, they are widely used for vocals and acoustic instruments but can also be used on most sound sources.

There is no video on YouTube for the 1969 model so I have included a link to the current model however Customers tell me that the early versions have an improved sound over the current Ai model
