Ex Lisa Standfield's Graceland Studio :
The IZ Radar was originally marketed under the Otari brand name and marketed in the UK by Stirling Audio for Circa £15,000 for a 24 track recorder with a remote keyboard and a meter bridge.
Later IZ marketed them through various dealers in numerous countries. They are are excellent recording devices. A Few years ago The Music Producers Guild held a blind listening contest comparing all types for recording devices from the most basic analogue recorder to the magnificent 1/2" mastering machines and digital recorders like Protools etc, the device that came out on top was the Radar.
I think the reason the Radar came out on top is because they are just a Recorder, plain and simple whereas more sophisticated recorders like ProTools have plug ins, plus effects and dynamic processing etcetera. These additional functions tend to put more pressure on digital recorders which effects the sound.
Another advantage is the Radar controls which are very similar to an analogue multitrack.
The radar system has the ability of being able to lock 2, maybe more, machines together to make a 48 track system.
